Science and Comics Fellowship Now Accepting Applications!

The University of Oregon’s Comic Studies department is partnering with STEM professors to create a Science and Comics Fellowship for Spring quarter. Two fellowships of $1000 will be awarded to selected recipients in Spring 2020. 

The program will partner two UO undergraduate comic artists with UO scientists to create a comic based on the scientist’s research. Artists are selected based on the strength of their application, as well as their ability to produce a body of work within the Spring term. 

Submission Details: 

Submissions are handled through the fellowship’s application form. Applicants will be asked to provide the following: 

  • A 300-word essay outlining their qualifications and what they hope to gain from a science-comics collaboration 

  • A small sample portfolio with at least two examples of their comic art 

Applicants must be enrolled UO undergraduate students with experience drawing comics.
