Americans in Paris: Modernism Reading Group Special Session

The Modernism Reading Group is holding a special session this Friday, November 15, in the Metolius/Owyhee Room of the EMU from 3:00-6:00 p.m. to discuss selections from UO English Emeritus Professor, George Wickes’s seminal volume, Americans in Paris(1969; 1980), and to celebrate his scholarly career.

Our session will begin with a panel presentation from a number of current UO faculty and former students, who each will be speaking briefly about different aspects of Professor Wickes‘s scholarship. The session will then move to an open discussion of Americans in Paris, especially the chapters on Gertrude Stein and Ernest Hemingway.

We welcome newcomers and anyone interested to join us on Friday at 3:00 p.m. and contribute to this special event.
