Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes, an immersive exhibit of over 300 comics-related items will open on April 21, 2018 at Seattle’s Museum of Pop Culture. The event will be a sponsored by Marvel, the Museum of Pop Culture and SC Exhibitions to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. UO Comics Studies Director, Ben Saunders is one of the event’s curators.
This weekend (April 30-May 1), the History Channel will be airing a two-part special on the history of the superhero called Superheroes Decoded, featuring UO English Professor Dr. Ben Saunders, the founder of the Comics and Cartoon Studies minor. On June 4, UO English celebrated the end of the year, recognizing student and faculty accomplishments at a reception in the Knight Library Browsing Room. The celebration was inaugurated by the UO Poetry Slam Team, which treated the department to a performance by team co-captain, Alex Dang. (more…)
