EUO groups to represent UO English nationally

The English Undergraduate Organization (EUO), will be sending two of its affiliated groups to national events in March.

The UO Poetry Slam, for the first time in Oregon’s history, will send a team to Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA to compete at the 2015 College Unions Poetry Slam Invitational (CUPSI), the top competition for college slam poets.

In another Oregon first, the Alpha Tau Phi Chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, International English Honor Society will send six members to the 2015 Sigma Tau Delta International Convention in Albuquerque, NM.

Alpha Tau Phi members will deliver three presentations. These students will also attend a wide variety of panels, leadership workshops, and performances at the convention. In addition to gaining the experience of attending and participating in an academic conference, these students will enjoy three keynote addresses by Leslie Marmon Silko, Simon Ortíz, and Gary Soto.

Currently, the EUO is working with the UO Poetry Slam and Alpha Tau Phi to raise money to attend these events. You may also support these groups by making a tax-deductible donation in the English office (118 PLC) to Marilyn Reid. Cash or Check acceptable (Please make checks out to UO English Department). No donation is too small.
