Alison Lau Stephens Honored with Kimble First Year Teaching Award
Alison Lau Stephens, a graduate student in English, was awarded the Dan Kimble First Year Teaching Award sponsored by the Graduate School and the Teaching Effectiveness Program (TEP), which recognizes outstanding teaching performances by GTFs in their first year of classroom experience and acknowledges a GTF’s investment in professional development. Recipients of this award must demonstrate their commitment to excellence in undergraduate education through participation in UO faculty development services, teacher trainings, and workshops and classes.
Alison will receive a cash award and will be honored at the Graduate School’s 2013 Awards Reception in October. She will also be asked to speak about her teaching experiences at the Orientation for New Teaching GTFs during Week of Welcome.
Donald G. Stein has made the Kimble Award, in honor of University of Oregon Professor Emeritus Dan Kimble, possible through a generous donation.
