UO Poetry Slam End-of-Term Poetry Slam

End-of-term Poetry Slam, featuring Brenna Twohy! Tuesday, November 17, 7:00pm-9:00pm in the EMU Gumwood room. Finalists will earn a spot on the UO Poetry Slam Team to compete at the 2016 College Unions Poetry Slam Invitational (CUPSI) at University of Texas at Austin.

All UO undergraduate students are eligible to compete. There will also be an open mic before the slam for those who would like to perform. Arrive on time to sign up!

The slam will be judged on a 1-10 scale (Olympic style). There have be a maximum of 10 slots, so arrive early to sign up for the slam.

Slam rules:

– Poets will each get 3 minutes to perform their piece.

– Only original works- no covers!!

– Memorization not necessary, you may bring a script onstage.

– No props!

– Slam will have two rounds: first round full 10 poets, second round the top 5 only!

Open mic rules:

– Each poet will get 5 minutes. Whatever you can fit in that time is yours.

– We prefer poetry, but some music wouldn’t be complained about. Just keep it acoustic!

– No judging! Just appreciation and thanks from the audience!
