Spring 2014 Festivities

On June 4, UO English celebrated the end of the year, recognizing student and faculty accomplishments at a reception in the Knight Library Browsing Room. The celebration was inaugurated by the UO Poetry Slam Team, which treated the department to a performance by team co-captain, Alex Dang. The Alpha Tau Phi Chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, International English Honor Society, inducted 16 new members, bestowing honorary membership upon Professor William Rossi, Director of Undergraduate Studies in English. The chapter also named Professor Ben Saunders the recipient of the chapter’s annual teaching award “in recognition of excellence in undergraduate education and in promoting interest in the discipline of English.” The Graduate Program honored student achievements.  The Composition Program announced Veronica Vold as the winner of the Outstanding Composition Teacher Award and Bethany Jacobs and Jeni Rinner as winners of Excellence in Teaching Awards. UO English also celebrated faculty promotions, book publications, and research awards. UO English had another successful year, and the reception was an cheerful celebration of our shared purpose and collegiality. View photos.
