Opening our WOW activities, UO English will hold advising sessions for international and domestic undergraduates, respectively. During these sessions, students will learn about UO university and major requirements and register for fall classes.

The Composition Program will kick off its annual staff meeting and Composition Conference, which will run through Wednesday, September 20. These activities begin the program’s yearlong conversations about teaching that are central to the vitality of the work we do in the Composition Program. Assistant Directors of Composition and the conference panelists designed an array of sessions for all writing teachers.

New graduate students will arrive on campus the previous week to begin their program orientation. On Wednesday, September 20, UO English hosts the annual Graduate Student Wine and Cheese Reception at 4:30pm in the Knight Library Browsing Room to welcome new and returning graduate students.

The week concludes with the English Graduate Organization (EGO) annual picnic at Alton Baker Park to celebrate the end of summer and the upcoming academic year. Welcome back everyone!
