15th and University
Please join us for a convivial poetry reading with cello music, burnt offerings, an oral history, and of course a toast and a roast to honor Warren Ginsberg, Professor of English and Philip H. Knight Professor of Humanities.
On the occasion of his retirement from the University of Oregon’s Department of English we will celebrate a lustrous career of teaching and scholarship on Chaucer, Dante, Boccaccio, and Ovid, among others.
We’ll also present to him a purchase made in his honor by the Knight Library for Special Collections and University Archives: a facsimile reproduction of MS 1102 in the Biblioteca Angelica, containing the text of the Divine Comedy, with commentary by Jacopo Alighieri and Bosone da Gubbio. The codex is a remarkable example of Bolognese illumination of the fourteenth century, although the illumination of this precious manuscript was never completed for Purgatorio or Paradiso.
